User Overview
User Overview
The frontend User Overview page is an authorized staff view for reviewing a user’s account context, operational history, training, requests, usage, and billing activity.
This page is implemented in the frontend at the user detail route and is intended for staff who need to investigate a user’s status or history without switching immediately into the Admin section.
Purpose
Use the User Overview page when you need to:
- review a user’s current team and project context
- inspect training records and training enrollments
- review requests, comments, and activity history
- check usage sessions, usage records, and charges
- investigate a support, onboarding, billing, or authorization issue
This page is especially useful for operational troubleshooting because it brings together multiple parts of the user’s history in one place.
Access Requirements
The page is intended for authorized staff.
In the current implementation, access to the full user overview page requires permission to manage users.
Practical implications:
- users do not access this page as part of their own self-service account settings
- staff with only basic user visibility do not automatically get this operational detail page
- user-management staff can open the page for operational review
How Staff Reach the Page
Staff typically reach this page by opening a user from frontend user-linked surfaces such as:
- linked user avatars
- user chips or user references in operational views
- other frontend workflows that expose a user detail link
The page opens at the frontend user detail route rather than inside the Admin section.
If the staff member also has Admin section access, the page includes an Open in admin panel action for jumping directly to the user record in the Admin section.
Header Tools
At the top of the page, staff can review:
- the user’s name and profile photo
- the account status
- a usage histogram
- an optional Open in admin panel action when Admin section access is available
The usage histogram provides a quick visual overview of the user’s usage history without leaving the page.
Tab Structure
The page is organized into tabs so staff can focus on one area of the user’s history at a time.
Core tabs include:
- General
- Training Records
- Training Enrollments
- Activity
- Requests
- Comments
- Usage Sessions
- Usage Records
- Charges
Tab badges display counts where that is operationally useful.
General Tab
The General tab provides account and relationship context.
It includes:
- identity details such as name, email, timezone, joined date, and status
- current team
- current project
- team memberships
- project memberships
This tab is the best starting point when staff need to understand a user’s current working context.
Training Records Tab
The Training Records tab is used to review the user’s qualification outcomes.
Staff can:
- search training records
- filter by state
- review trainer and validation information
- inspect expiry details
- open the full detail dialog for a specific record
This is especially helpful when investigating why a user can or cannot access a resource.
Training Enrollments Tab
The Training Enrollments tab shows the user’s session participation history.
This helps staff review:
- upcoming or past enrollments
- enrollment states
- session states
- delivery mode
- participation patterns across training sessions
Use this tab when a question is about what the user registered for or attended, rather than what record outcome they hold.
Activity Tab
The Activity tab provides an operational audit trail tied to the user.
Staff can use it to search activity related to:
- actions caused by the user
- actions performed on the user as the subject
- broader account-history review
This is useful during troubleshooting, support investigation, and audit review.
Requests Tab
The Requests tab shows requests created by or associated with the user.
Staff can:
- search requests
- filter by state
- filter by priority
- filter by request type
- inspect individual request details
This makes it easier to review a user’s outstanding or historical service and training requests in context.
Comments Tab
The Comments tab shows comments the user has authored across the system.
This helps staff review:
- comment history
- replies
- the related item or object being discussed
Use this tab when support or administrative review needs conversational context rather than only formal workflow data.
Usage Sessions Tab
The Usage Sessions tab focuses on active and historical session-level usage activity.
This is useful when staff need to review:
- who started or stopped a session
- when usage occurred
- operational timing patterns
- session-level anomalies
Use this tab when the question is about live or session-based use rather than final billing or usage record outcomes.
Usage Records Tab
The Usage Records tab shows the finalized usage records associated with the user.
This is useful for reviewing:
- recorded usage history
- durations and quantities
- policy-adjusted usage outcomes
- billing-relevant usage records
This tab is often used during billing investigations and usage corrections.
Charges Tab
The Charges tab shows billing charges associated with the user’s usage.
Staff can:
- search charges
- filter by state
- filter by date range
- review totals and units
- inspect charge details
This is helpful when a support question crosses from usage into billing impact.
Difference From Account Settings
This page is different from the user’s own Account Settings page.
The User Overview page is:
- staff-facing
- operational
- investigative
- scoped to reviewing another user’s history and context
The Account Settings page is:
- self-service
- user-facing
- focused on the signed-in user’s own profile and security settings
The two pages serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Recommended Uses
The User Overview page is especially useful for:
- onboarding review
- authorization troubleshooting
- training verification
- usage investigation
- billing follow-up
- support and audit work
