Resources
Resources
Resources are at the core of the system and represent the things you want to manage access to. They reside in a Location and have rules that define their ability to be booked and used. Schedules can be applied to resources in order to apply holiday closures or indicate regular maintenance. Access to Resources is gated through Training Sessions and Access RulesAccess Rules.
Resources represent equipment, workspaces, or shared assets available for use in the facility. Each resource includes information such as:
- Description and technical details
- Availability calendar
- Training requirements
- Infrastructure dependencies
- Assigned staff
- Usage trends
Users must follow defined rules, training requirements, and booking policies before using any resource.
Viewing Resource Details
To view a resource:
- Navigate to Resources in the user panel.
- Select a resource from the list.
Calendar
The Calendar section displays resource availability in real time.
What You Can See in the Calendar:
- All available time slots
- Existing bookings
- Maintenance closures
- Holidays and blackout dates
- Daily operating hours
Important
The system will never allow you to book a resource on Alberta statutory holidays. These dates appear blocked on the calendar (e.g., Remembrance Day โ November 11).
This ensures users cannot schedule usage when the facility is closed.
Holidays & Booking Restrictions
The booking system automatically checks for:
- Alberta statutory holidays
- Resource-specific downtime
- Location-based closures
- Scheduled maintenance
If a timeslot intersects with a holiday or closure, it will be disabled and cannot be booked.
Users do not need to manually validate the datesโthe system enforces holiday rules automatically.
Training Requirements
Some resources require users to complete training to ensure safe operation.
Training May Include:
- Safety modules
- Step-by-step operation guides
- Quizzes or assessments
- Certification approval
Important
If a resource requires training:
- You must complete all linked training modules.
- System will block booking attempts until training is marked as completed.
The training status will appear on the resource page.
Team
Every resource may have assigned team members such as:
- Resource Owner
- Technicians
- Safety Supervisors
- Support Staff
Users can see these team members listed under the Team section.
Why This Matters for Users:
- They are your point of contact for issues or questions.
- Some bookings may require technician approval.
- Team members also help maintain and support the resource.
Infrastructure
The Infrastructure section lists external systems the resource depends on, such as:
- Power
- Cooling
- Compressed air
- Vacuum systems
- Internet/IoT connectivity
Why This Matters for Users:
If infrastructure is unavailable, the system may:
- Mark the resource as Unavailable
- Prevent booking
- Cancel existing bookings
- Display warnings or outages in the calendar
Infrastructure outages ensure safe and proper usage.
Daily Usage Trend
This section shows a visual graph of how the resource is used over time.
Users can see:
- Peak usage times
- Light-traffic days
- Historical patterns
This helps users choose the best times to book a resource with minimal wait or conflict.
Booking a Resource
To book a resource:
- Open the Calendar section.
- Select an available timeslot.
- Confirm details such as:
- Start and end time
- Required configuration (if applicable)

- Review performance metrics
